Journal block 45 in 2009
This is my home made extension sewing table, we made it from a piece of Plexiglas we have had laying around for years, the legs are made from PVC connectors, I cut circles from a rubber jar opener and glued them to each end so it would not slide.More free motion, I'm trying to get more control with speed and movement of the material, thinking out what you want to do is probably key, I didn't and encountered several problems. Also itsy bitsy details seem harder to accomplish than medium size. All I knew when I started this was I wanted to try pumpkins, vines and leaves. Hopefully with practice I will improve, regardless I am having loads of fun.

Spray painting
The paint is air brush paint in a small spritzer bottle. Very, very diluted with water. Probably 10-20 drops paint in one ounce water. Wish I had known about this before buying fabric for my last project. Much less expensive and a whole lot more fun.
The pictures came out a bit pale. The fabric is a good deal darker.
Used foam brush on wet fabric.

Sprayed wet fabric.

Crumpled wet fabic. Sprayed one side. Turned over and sprayed other side. Used pink and purple. The fabric is slightly darker than photo.

This paint was not diluted with water. The small piece of fabric was crumpled. The larger one was laying flat.

Not a journal block
My oldest daughter celebrated her 50th birthday this year. Members of our family wrote some of the things we love about her. Her sister and neice printed and framed the document for her. I made the quilt with as many of the sayings as I could. Combining and sadly omitted a few. Hopefully everytime she wraps herself in the quilt she will feel wrapped in our love.

Week 33 2009
Oil pastels and freezer paper for seagull stencils. Quilted using blended thread. That is Jonathan Livingston at the top. Doing all he ever wanted to do and flying higher than he ever flew before. :-) I learned to love Jonathan thanks to my youngest son. I made a quilt for him years ago that protrayed Jonathan flying high. Wish I had pictures of all the quilts I have made.
