Block 7-2010

Eye glass cases. I used bias tape around the edges. Also fused the backing and lining to batting. Snake fabric was handy.lol

Satin stitched around edges. Used a blue magic markers to fill in white places where batting showed. Used batting and extra firm interfacing which was not useful at all. Like the method above better. Faster too!

Block6-2010

Valentine day and Chinese New Year are on the same day this year. Here is the symbol for Love in Chinese. Fused the red, satin stitched in black and stipple stitched on the yellow. Red is batik. Poly batting. I'm pretty sure this will end up in my kitchen after binding in either the red or black.

block 5-2010

Had this fun happy snake fabric and just had to find something to do with it. I may use it in a series of Amish type blocks so did not quilt it. Love my happy little snakes.

Journal Block 6 of 2010

My first attempt at doing a free motion rose from a pencil sketch I saw. Its much more difficult than I thought it would be but lots of fun.

Journal block 5 of 2010

I cut out a heart of fusible web, iron it to white fabric, cut itty bitty pieces of pink and red fabric with the rotary cutter then fused them to the heart, top stitched it (alot) with a metallic thread, then shadow stitched around the heart and rambling free motion stitch around that.

Block 4 - 2010 12 days of....

Sister Jane suggested we make some of our journal blocks suitable to use in a quilt at the end of the year. We are both making 12 days of xmas blocks. I am also making landscape blocks using pictures of places traveled by family members.
Because so much time and effort is put into making the pattern, I decided to make two blocks of the 12 days theme, using very different fabric colors. Below...two turtle doves minus top stitching.
