Journal blocks 12 and 13 and 14 of 2009

Word of the month - Music. I printed Moonlight Sonata sheet music on white fabric and air brushed the blue around the edges, the end result is not the picture I had in mind but as usual I learned more about the process of printing and airbrushing so it was a fun project.
Journal block 13 of 2009. This is a project I was experimenting with to see how easy or hard it would be to make quilt blocks out of old jeans. the frogs are fussy cut and fused on.

Journal block 12 of 2009. Circles made by taping a thumb tack to the sewing machine and putting the material on it. After trying several kinds of tape I found that painters tape works the best and you can reposition the tack without changing the tape. In hindsight I would use fabric and thread that contrast more.

These are blocks 12 (the fish), 13 (the birds) and 14 (the quilt block) in 2008.

2008 BLOCK Experimenting with fusing

Week 8

Meandering using varigated thread on white bridal satin fabric. I used flannel for batting.

2008 Journal block.

Week 7 2009

This fabric was painted by spraying shaving cream on a piece of plastic. I spread the cream about 1/2 - 1 inch thick. Dotted blue and red fabric paint on it and swirled the paint. Laid the fabric on top, patted until paint showed thru and lifted the fabric and laying it right side up on a piece of parchment paper. Approximately two hours later I lightly rinsed the shaving cream off fabric and allowed to dry overnight.

My first try at air brush painting, as always a learning experience. Lots of fun, this is something I hope to try again on a less windy day with a little more knowledge of the process.
