Journal Block 4 of 2009

Five Fabric Circles sewn to fusible interfacing, right side of fabric sewn to fusible side of interfacing, trim, split interfacing and turn right side out, arrange on a piece of fabric, press with a steam iron. The one I saw had a blanket stitch around each circle, since my machine doesn't have that stitch I used different stitches around each circle. Lesson learned, be careful which colors overlap since the dark will show thru the lighter color. Easy fun project.

Week 4 of 2008. Oh yeah.

Journal block 2 of 2009

Remember cutting snowflakes out of paper as a child, that was my thought as I started this project.
I cut the snowflake out of fusible interfacing and ironed it on the blue fabric, used flannel for the backing and top stitched.

Journal block 2 of 2008. Pot was the word of the month in Jan. 2008.

Journal Block 1 of 2009

This was Journal Block 1 in 2008, at the time I thought I might was to do hand embroidery again.

Journal block 1 in 2009. Brushed paint on sheet of plastic, scraped off the paint for the 9 and squiggles, layed the plastic paint side down on the fabric. Using a roller would be better for even paint coverage.

Journal Block 52

The holly was done with oil pastels, even after heat setting they smudged a bit. Layered with batting and backing and top stitched.
